Gathering for Conversation on the 2025 Letter, Hope Beyond All Hope at 4pm followed at 6pm by Evening Prayer in the style of Taize

You may have heard of the Taizé Community, an ecumenical Christian monastic community in Taizé, Saône-et-Loire, Burgundy, France.

'Ecumenical' means that it is not affiliated to just one particular church but spans all denominations. In fact, Brother Matthew who was recently appointed the Prior of Taizé is an Australian Anglican priest.

Taizé has become world-renowned for its meditative style of prayer service, filled with candles and chants. The community's focus on simplicity and inner transformation for peace attracts hundreds of thousands of people, especially young people to its grounds each year. They come to retreat a while and to volunteer their time and energy, while doing so.

At St Mark’s we meet to worship on custodial land of the oldest living civilisation in the world. We pay our respects to Kabi Kabi people and their Elders, past, present and emerging, for they hold the hopes, dreams, traditions and cultures of Aboriginal Australia. We acknowledge and respect their spiritual connection to country and their stewardship of the land that now sustains us all.
